CIRMin (Critical Infrastructures − Resilience as a Minimum Supply Concept) is an interdisciplinary research project, which investigates dependencies between essential basic supply infrastructures (so-called Critical Infrastructures) in Germany. The aim is to develop a concept to achieve minimum supply of basic supply infrastructure for the population during a power failure. For this purpose, dependencies between the electricity and water supply (technical and organizational) are analyzed and socio-economic coping and recovery abilities examined.
Based on this, a necessary minimum supply is defined and protection goals identified. The protection goals should be integrated into the risk and crisis management processes of cities and municipalities. The project is a cooperation between several associated partners: Institut für Notfallmedizin, RheinEnergie Köln, RWE / RWW, Stadt Kerpen, Rhein-Erft-Kreis & Stadtentwässerungsbetriebe Köln.
